No Daddy! Go 'Way

Tonight again, Michael requested popcorn, the results, however, were not so happy. In trying to turn too quickly, he lost control of the popcorn bowl, and only a few popped kernels remained in the bowl. "Uh Oh," was of course on Michael's lips. Mommy suggested we vacuum, to which Michael instantly let go of the now almost empty bowl and ran to the closet where we keep the vacuum, saying "I vacuum." It's more like a dust buster, but is actually called a "scorpion." Michael pulled it out and also the attachments, and started "vacuuming" with the attachments only. He shoved the ends together, so that he had two suction areas, and proceeded to proudly announce that he was "vacuuming." When Mommy asked if Miss Tammy could plug the vacuum in so that we could really vacuum, he cried "NO!" He picked up the actual vacuum, and tried to pull it away, and was not happy when I succeeded in plugging it in. I asked him if he wanted to vacuum with me, but he ran and buried his face in the couch. Mommy then asked Daddy if he could show Michael that the vacuum was nothing to be afraid of. Daddy tried sucking Mommy & Miss Tammy, and they both survived. Daddy then tried using the back of the vacuum where the air blows out to ruffle Michael's hair. Michael screached "NO Daddy, Go 'Way." He was absolutely terrified of the vacuum cleaner, and was trying to dig himself a hole in the couch; he wouldn't even let me hold him. You could see his curiosity growing though, because he edged off the couch and took a couple steps toward Mommy while she was vacuuming, but the instant that she moved and asked him if he wanted to help, he got scared again. It's interesting what we fear, because a vacuum cleaner obviously doesn't bother me, but thunderstorms do, and while Michael clearly is scared of a vacuum cleaner, he seems to be more like his Daddy, because he loves thunderstorms.
