Has anyone seen the movie August Rush ? While there are definitely some things in this movie that are unpleasant, the music in this movie is just amazing. It is about a young boy who is a musical prodigy and has just tremendous talent, and plays guitar, piano and organ without being taught, and he ends up attending classes at Juilliard. He was separated from his parents through some cruel circumstances at birth, and the movie is about following music to find his parents who are also very musically talented. I really like this movie because I love music myself, but I can also see a budding musical ability in Michael. He's only two and he just has this tremendous appreciation for music. He loves listening to music, and he can really feel the beat. He and another little boy that Andrea & I were babysitting were "dancing" to the 1812 overture just the other day, and having a blast. Michael does not sit still with music either, he has to dance or move. Also, if he really likes a song, he will clap his little hands and/or say "yeah." He also is like me because he likes playing songs over and over, and he will let you know if you are on the wrong song. Its usually a scream of "No!" or "Again!" He has also played my keyboard before, and unlike other kids, he doesn't just pound on the keys, he is very careful to play specific keys. He has also just recently taken up the harmonica. He can play different notes and he sounds great!! With some practice, he could be brilliant!! He also likes to experiment with the harmonica. He tries to play the wrong end, and then turns it around and it works, and then he tries to play with the pacifier in his mouth, and figures out it doesn't work, and then takes the pacifier out. I wish more people had the problem solving ability that he has...Could you imagine if politicians had this problem solving ability?? It would be completely revolutionary.
